Bow Street Market celebrates Earth Day 2015, this Wednesday, April 22, with the elimination of single use plastic checkout bags.
Upholding our mission as a “caring community market” and promoting the use of reusable bags, we will reduce the amount of plastic in the waste stream. Our effort alone should remove in excess of 600,000 plastic bags per year.
The first 1,000 customers on Earth Day will get a free, reusable Bow Street Market shopping bag. Bow Street Market will also donate a 15 cent/bag credit to Freeport Community Services for each shopper using reusable totes in the month of April. This socially & environmentally responsible decision is a clear way for Bow Street Market to contribute to a better Maine.
